In major news for Douglas Enclave residents – especially University of Miami students or employees, the City of Coral Gables is significantly expanding its popular Coral Gables Trolley. The free commuting service is used by an average of 1 million passengers annually and helps create a seamless and connected living experience for Douglas Enclave residents.

The City announced plans to launch a new Southern Loop trolley route as part of a one-year pilot program funded by the Florida Department of Transportation, according to Miami New Times. It debuted earlier this month.

“Like one of its existing routes, the new, free trolley will also run along Ponce de Leon. It will also, however, extend service from the Douglas Road Metrorail Station to Red Road, connecting UM students to social hubs like the Underline and Merrick Park, as well as medical offices and other community services,” the New Times article states.

With a Coral Gables Trolley stop next door, Douglas Enclave provides easy connectivity to public transit – whether you are a UM student or professional working in downtown Miami or Brickell. This is especially beneficial as more renters consider shifting to a car-free lifestyle to save significantly on gas, auto insurance and maintenance costs.

As long as market conditions favor renting, new buildings that offer connectivity, convenience and unforgettable experiences like Douglas Enclave will be in high demand.
